Yorktown Chamber celebrates 100 years
By Roger Cowan
On the evening of March 6, the Yorktown Chamber of Commerce celebrated it’s 100th Chamber Banquet. The Yorktown Community Hall was packed full of Chamber members and supporters, mingling and dining to the musical sounds provided by Colin Barth as the hall filled to capacity.
Once it seemed everyone had found their seats, Yorktown’s Mayor Rene Hernandez welcomed the audience and introduced the Color Guard for the Presentation of the Colors. The Color Guard was comprised of members from VFW Post 8136, Vietnam Veterans Chapter 1029, and American Legion Post 270.
With a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem sung by Christa Garcia and the pledge to the Flag complete, Pastor Mark Collins led the invocation. Tammy Bitterly, Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, introduced the guests for the evening, then welcomed everyone to partake of the fine steak dinner provided by 5D Steakhouse and Lounge.
